A NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST IS LIKE A ROOM FULL OF FOREIGN CURRENCY
The Civil Writer Magazine
What is the purpose of a National Prayer Breakfast? The purpose of a National Prayer Breakfast is two-fold, but the main intention is quite simple: to come together in prayer and thanksgiving not to any particular God. Non-Christians attend the breakfast, but the event is designed to make sure that everyone is respectful whenever possible. The presence of every religion in one room is like being in a room full of foreign currency that collectively has no value unless they are accountable to the nation of its origin or there is an exchange in the room but the question is, to what currency or in this case to what God. What God will stand authoritative in a room of religions with their own God? What prayer will exalt to a single God. The Gods have multiple names so how are they seemlessly brought together as one for a common cause. Must a cause be exchanged like money to one God to fit the issues behind the prayer. How would it be if everyone stands behind a nondenominational God for the cause. Could a national prayer breakfast work? No. It is simply for show and tell, pomp and arrogance where pompous is affectedly grand, solemn or self-important while arrogance is having excessive pride in oneself, often with contempt for others. So what ultimate cause does a National prayer breakfast serves. Simply a means to show cooperation among many opposing beliefs.
