AFRICAN AMERICAN VERSES BLACK AMERICAN

AFRICAN AMERICAN VERSES BLACK AMERICAN

The great influx of Caribbeans and Africans into the United States makes them what, Caribbean Americans and African Americans or are they Black Americans. If they were born in Haiti, Jamaica, or in Great Britain must they retain the origin of their ancestry upon their arrival into the US. Sadly the US laws do not ask the question what type of American are you as if to establish a different law. If they said I am Caribbean American what should they present to society that is different than what a Black American or an African American would .

Black American should be the operative words that incorporates all persons of African heritage but where born in different countries. Any person of African and white DNA should be identified as Black because white ancestry is the demarcation line to divide our heritage from exclusively Africa and identifies our domicile to be the country that a person treats as their permanent home, or lives in and has a substantial connection with.

African American is a nickname a usually descriptive name given instead of or in addition to the one belonging to a Black person. If a white man was born and raised in Africa and come to the US and become a US citizen is he now an African American or white American. There are a recorded 20 million Asian Americans who trace their roots to more than 20 countries yet they are all called Asian Americans, nicknamed Korean, Filipinos, Japanese, Vietnamese and so on.... None are identified by their country of origin with being American unless there is a cultural difference that needs to be identified. Black Americans have been here just as long as whites. And if you turn over the DNA cards that were dealt to our ancestors our white grandfathers make us part of America's history much earlier than slaves. First we are Americans, secondly we are Black from our many different domiciles and lastly we are Africans by DNA.
