IF A PASTOR IS INVOLVED IN A PUBLIC TRANSGRESSION HOW FAR REACHING SHOULD THE APOLOGY BE
When pastors become big timers and are on TV, Radio, or the world stage and are on the preaching circuit and they violate God's trust and they also violate your trust shouldn't there be a public asking for forgiveness that extends beyond his or her parishioners. Many are world influencers rather than just local preachers with their local parishioners. Therefore an apology should be made public for any public event rather than kept under a cloak of silence and secrecy within their church.
Does only the parishioners deserve to hear an apology because they paid their tithes and offering to the church and supports the pastor?
If a pastor has preached to you a thousand miles away, they owe you too an apology for their transgression(s). Pastor John Gray went to pastor TD Jakes for a prayer vigil equivalent to an exorcism to make his affair and baby issues all go away. Yet he choose his public posturing to soften the transgression publicly. He didn't need to be prayed on, he needed to keep his pants on.
When you becomes a pastor you become a city, country or world pastor and with that comes greater reach and responsibilities. When Jesse Jackson had a daughter out of wedlock his request for forgiveness should have been to the nation if he had preached to the nation. Jesse had once said that white churches had the moral responsibility to stand up for what is right. If that is true for a church isn't that reasoning good enough for Rev. Jesse Jackson and John Gray to the city, nation or world.
