JESUS WAS HANDCUFFED ONCE DR. KING OVER 30 TIMES FOR THE TREATMENT OF HIS BROTHER
The Civil Writer Magazine
The arrest of Jesus was a pivotal event in Christianity recorded in the canonical gospels. Jesus, a preacher whom Christians believe to be the Son of God, was arrested by the Temple guards of the Sanhedrin in the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus never showed any civil disobedience or passive resistance, or any refusal to obey the demands or commands of a government even if his fellow brethren were mistreated. Jesus played it safe even if the aim was to eventually die as a sacrifice rather than die from a word spat of being the son of God.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was imprisoned nearly 30 times. According to the King Center, the civil rights leader went to jail 29 times. He was arrested for acts of civil disobedience and on trumped-up charges, such as when he was jailed in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1956 for driving 30 miles per hour in a 25-mile-per-hour zone.
As long as you consider Jesus as a God the handcuffs had no relevance to loving thy brother when the misunderstanding of who he was got him into trouble. King out of love led a movement of non-violent, peaceful protests to fight racial injustice in the United States. Although they both gave their lives for trumped-up charges we have seen the progress of the black race for over 50 years from those 30 handcuffs Dr. King wore. The 1 handcuffs Jesus wore has not materialized in this world but is a promise for some future utopian land of peace.
