How many times have you and others proclaimed that mom and dad are in heaven. Well let me confess the truth, you don't go to heaven, although Jesus stated, John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. If you notice there are no stated dates included in that proclamation. Do you know how hard it is to recover thrown confetti of lies. Nearly impossible. The most famous question in the Christian faith is, when someone dies, do they go to heaven immediately, or do they have to wait until the end of time before they can go into God's presence? Science says they are dead and cease to exist and that, brings us to another question, is the soul still in the grave at the time of death or does the soul cease to exist. In theory the soul leaves the body so where does it go. 2 Corinthians 5: (KJV) 5 "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." The outstanding question is, when do you go to heaven. The rapture is an eschatological concept of certain Christians, particularly within branches of North American evangelicalism, consisting of an end time event when all Christian believers who are alive will rise along with the resurrected dead believers into Heaven and join Christ. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17,16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

The true answer is, only God knows where the soul goes. The second alternatives answer seems to be if not heaven the soul goes to hell until further notice, or the soul roams the earth.
