THE VOTE HAS MORE POWER THAN PRAYER IN POLITICS
The Civil Writer Magazine
The vote has more power than prayer in politics because it is nondenominational. Slavery is proof that prayer had no effects for 200 years but the vote to keep slavery did. As for the free states it wasn't the power of prayer that kept slavery out but the power of the ballot box. And since then it has been 150 years since the end of slavery and it wasn't because of a prayer meeting but a political caucus to defeat slavery. All those who struggled for the cause of civil rights died in prayer being the prayers did not shield the bullet from Abraham Lincoln, Martin or Malcolm. This is not to diminish prayer but as you use an empirical observation there are some things that prayer doesn't seem to have a grip on like cancer and racism. The hindu prayers didn't deter Gingus Khan. The Jewish prayers didn't deter Hitler and nor did the Christian prayers deter slavery. Prayer may give you peace personally but it does not thwart evil in the world like a unified vote by the people.
