The Civil Writer Magazine One open-ended question is, will there be animals in heaven. If you analyze scriptures it seems like only horses will get the privilege to live in heaven. Because what is heaven without chariots and horses to pull them. Elijah was taken up to heaven in a chariot pulled by horses (2 Kings 2:11). We’re told there are horses in heaven (Revelation 6:2-8; 19:11). In fact, there are lots of horses, enough for the vast armies of heaven to ride (Revelation 19:11; 2 Kings 6:17).

There are approximately 1.2 million known species of animals, but scientists estimate there are closer to 8.7 million species on earth. So the question is, why would God destroy millions of animals for the sake of man's comfort. When you see squirrels they are an indication that there will be no new world. Although the Bible is silent on cats and dogs and do place more emphasis on sheep, horses and birds the details of them being in heaven is silent.

There is no reason for heaven or hell to exist when death is the greatest equalizer for both humans and animals. Furthermore, why is there a new heaven in the book of Revelation but not in Genesis when the world was once destroyed. Why were animals saved in Genesis 6:20 (KJV) 20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. Past is prologue a preface to the future – we can't forget the lessons of history.
