WOULD YOU RATHER BE CREMATED OR BURIED A PICTURE SAYS A 1000 WORDS A TOMBSTONE SAYS ONLY ONE DEAD

Going back to the 1960s and further, if the family couldn't afford to bury their deceased they were placed in a pauper's grave.

A grave paid for at public expense because the deceased person's family could not afford one. Meanwhile although there had been two recorded instances of cremation before 1800, cremation started in 1876 when Dr. Julius LeMoyne built the first crematory in Washington, Pennsylvania.

For more than a century, black funeral directors have been serving black communities in the United States, with coffins and graves keeping African American funeral traditions alive. But now those institutions, which withstood segregation and prospered through it, are struggling to survive not because there are fewer deaths but because the African American income has not risen to a level to provide a lavish funeral for the deceased. In today's society the funeral homes are picking up the bodies and going straight to the crematorium. An action mostly against the deceased broke elderly's last will. The Black Baby-boomer generation and those before opposes cremation because in their finite mind a disintegrated body by fire cannot get into heaven neither a body absent of organs that were donated.

Why would you want to be buried in a grave, what selfish reason could you have. The average grave site visits are averaging once a year. And how can you overlook that $7,000- $15000 price tag for a funeral versus $2000 for a cremation. If you are broke in the coming years before your death you really have nothing to say about how you prefer a coffin and grave.

Direct cremations are more cost-effective than direct burials as they do not require embalming. Plus, you have the option of keeping the body in a alternative container instead of a casket. Cremation is a simpler process that also helps save ground space, but it is not so in case of burial. Hey, what would you know anyways from the grave or urn.
